Bennett Bowers, 7, and Josiah Nyce, 6, paint two pieces of clay Friday afternoon, June 7, at Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library. The library is inviting members of the community to help transform a children’s art project into a mosaic mural to celebrate the library’s 50 years of service. Don Edwards, of IndyClayWorks, will be recreating an image designed by Zionsville resident and artist Susan Fletcher Conaway. The local woman donated her time to design a piece of art that highlights the beauty of books and nature found just outside the library. Images of native birds and local trees have been included so children may admire the art while also learning how to identify the different species. The mosaic will be unveiled later this month.
